Concierto Al-Andalus
The Concierto de Aranjuez, a masterpiece by Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo, evokes the beauty and charm of the gardens of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez. Composed in 1939, this concerto for guitar and orchestra captivates with its melancholy and vibrant expression of the Spanish landscape and culture. With its exquisite melodies and rich instrumentation, the Concierto de Aranjuez has become an icon of Spanish classical music, delighting listeners around the world with its unparalleled beauty and elegance.
The guitarist from Sabadell, Cañizares, winner of the 2023 National Music Prize, will be the soloist in charge of interpreting this iconic score. In addition, he will present his latest work, Concierto Al-Andalus, published in 2023, a work commissioned by the Orquesta y Coro Nacional de España and dedicated to the memory of Paco de Lucía.
The program is completed with Les trompetes de la mort, a striking composition by Marc Timón, full of expressive force, which will feature the Cor de Noies de l’Orfeó Català. This work premiered at the Palau de la Música Catalana in 2021.
