Andrés Salado, new principal conductor of the Vallès Symphony Orchestra

25.03.2025

The Vallès Symphony Orchestra (OSV) has announced today the appointment of conductor Andrés Salado as the new principal conductor of the ensemble for the next two seasons. Salado will take up the position on September 1, 2025, succeeding Xavier Puig, who has led the orchestra since 2018.

With this appointment, the OSV embarks on a new chapter under Salado’s direction. He will combine this role with his position as the conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, with his main objective being the continuous improvement of the orchestra’s artistic quality. Additionally, he will work to contribute to the maintenance and development of innovation as a founding value and a hallmark of OSV’s identity.

Andrés Salado will lead these initiatives in collaboration with Xavier Puig, who will remain linked to the orchestra as its resident conductor, a new role within the OSV’s organizational structure that will ensure the continuity and consolidation of the musical project developed in recent years. Puig will balance this responsibility with his work as the conductor of the Orfeó Català and the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana.

The Vallès Symphony Orchestra is a constantly evolving ensemble that has experienced remarkable artistic growth in recent years. With a model based on responsible self-management, the renewal of the principal conductor position and the introduction of the resident conductor role reflect its dynamic operating philosophy and its commitment to continuing to grow as a leading musical institution in the country.
