This season’s soundtrack concert by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès is dedicated to Western Music, with five concerts taking place this November across Barcelona and Vallès: at the Palau de la Música Catalana, Sabadell, Terrassa, and Sant Cugat del Vallès.
From November 22 to January 31, five concerts will be dedicated to the music of unforgettable Westerns such as The Magnificent Seven, Silverado, High Noon, Big Horizons, How the West Was Won, Dances with Wolves, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Wild Bunch, The Last of the Mohicans, and more. They’ll feature some of the genre’s greatest composers, including Ennio Morricone, Elmer Bernstein, Dimitri Tiomkin, John Williams, James Horner, John Barry, Trevor Jones, and others.
These soundtracks defined an era for many generations, creating a language of their own that the OSV now honors with an original script by Jordi Cos, written especially for this occasion, narrated by voice actor Luis Posada and featuring musical performances by baritone Toni Marsol and soprano Andrea Martí, with the voices of the Cor Jove from the Orfeó Català and the Coral Cantiga, Sergi Raya on harmonica, and Lluís Giménez on electric guitar. Together with the orchestra, they will perform music dedicated to the Western film genre.
Additionally, the concert experience will be enhanced by large-screen projections created by illustrator Iván Mardones, who has recently worked with J.A. Bayona. A unique, heartfelt concert that will allow the audience to relive the emotions they felt when first watching these films on the big screen.
Voice actor Luis Posada will narrate Jordi Cos’s script to introduce each musical piece. Audiences will enjoy some of the most celebrated music in Western history, accompanied by one of the most recognizable voices, known for dubbing Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jim Carrey, John Cusack, Adrien Brody, among others. Once again, the Simfònica del Vallès shines a light on the cinema’s most invisible stars: the music and the voice of the dubber.
The conductor Víctor Pablo Pérez will lead the orchestra in all the concerts held at the Teatre La Faràndula in Sabadell (Friday, 11/22), the Palau de la Música Catalana for two performances (Saturday, 11/23 and 11/30), the Factoria Cultural in Terrassa (Sunday, 11/24), and the Teatre-Auditori in Sant Cugat (Friday, 1/31).
